The heart of Ceramic is a large hand-thrown clayware bell surrounded by five smaller ones. Motion of the bells against one another generates unique sounds within each bell that are recorded as they occur. All bells rotate on their central axis; flywheels are driven by an electric motor generating their motion.

Three tiers of Key Piece keys are suspended from flywheels by metallic threads. Flywheels are driven by an electric motor. The antique keys rotate and create sounds by periodically striking three horizontally suspended metal tubes. The varied diameters of these tubes produce different pitches.
